NOW chapters focus on six priority issues including reproductive rights, ending sex discrimination/constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism, economic justice, stopping violence against women, and lesbian rights including marriage equality. Our chapter welcomes new members to help fight for women’s rights on the local and national level. The SD chapter of the National Organization for Women adopts an intersectional, multi-strategy approach to advocate for and empower women. 'Since our founding in 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.' (cited from NOW.org) The South Dakota chapter of the National Organization for Women seeks to advocate for and empower the women of South Dakota. We recognize and validate all experiences of womanhood, and that there are as many ways to be a woman as there are women. The six core issues of NOW are as follows: 1. Reproductive Rights 2.
