PAN34 is a private group whose members are united by shared progressive values and a desire to make our communities more welcoming, open-minded places. While we are unified by our district, members are not required to live in District 34 towns (North Haven, Wallingford, East Haven and Durham). We welcome collaboration and communication with fellow progressives and those who share similar values. We intend to educate, mobilize and encourage people of all backgrounds to participate in the electoral and legislative process at all levels: local, state and federal. From school board to presidency, we will support and carry the progressive ideals and agenda. We will collaborate with other local, state and national groups (such as Action Together, Code Blue and District 34 DTCs) so that we can be inspired by, learn from, join, and mirror each other's efforts. Through regular meetings of small groups of neighbors, we'll share individual interests and concerns, and explore and plan opportunities for shared progressive action to help make our world a better place for all. We strive to be an inclusive group and encourage diversity; we recognize that members may differ in their opinions on specific issues. We embrace these differences and encourage respectful dialogue and debate, both of which are critical in a functioning democracy. We believe that listening to and considering different perspectives are essential components to effecting positive change. We want to keep this private group a place where all members feel safe and welcome! With this in mind, we request that all posts and comments adhere to the following guidelines: Please keep the tone of posts and comments respectful, even when you strongly disagree. Please refrain from insults, name-calling, bullying and offensive or violent language. Focus on what you disagree with, rather than the individual whose position you oppose. Hateful or discriminatory comments will not be tolerated and will be cause for removal from this group. If you see a post that violates these guidelines, please tag or message an admin. Admins will review posts reported or ones they note and reach a consensus about whether they violate the above guidelines and action to be taken. Posts that are deemed to be in violation of the guidelines will be removed and the member will be contacted. Multiple posts in violation of the guidelines by the same person will result in removal from this group.
