The FMA PAC (Florida Medical Association Political Action Committee) is a non-partisan, political action committee established in 1974 to elect pro-medicine candidates to state and national legislative offices. The FMA PAC solicits voluntary contributions from physicians and others to research, select and support the election of candidates who will advocate for the medical profession. The FMA PAC is by far Florida's No. 1 medical PAC. At the end of the first quarter of 2012, the FMA PAC raised $1,289,780, which is more than the funds raised by the trial lawyers, optometrists, chiropractors, podiatrists, nurses, CRNAs, physician assistants and psychologists. In the same time frame, the FMA PAC raised twice as much as the combined amount of all 30 medical and specialty PACs in the state.This organization was formerly known as the Florida Medical Political Action Committee.
