NOW chapters focus on six priority issues including reproductive rights, ending sex discrimination/constitutional equality, promoting diversity and ending racism, economic justice, stopping violence against women, and LGBTQIA rights. Our chapter welcomes new members to help fight for women's rights on the local and national level. Virginia NOW is a feminist organization whose purpose is to bring women into full participation of American society and in equal partnership with men. Statement of Purpose (Adopted at the organizing conference in Washington, D.C., October 29, 1966) We, men and women, who hereby constitute ourselves as the National Organization for Women, believe that the time has come for a new movement toward true equality for all women in America, and toward a fully equal partnership of the sexes, as part of the world-wide revolution of human rights now taking place within and beyond our national borders. The purpose of NOW is to take action to bring women into full participation in the mainstream of American society now, exercising all the privileges and responsibilities thereof in truly equal partnership with men. COMMENTS POLICY: Virginia NOW’s Facebook page is a place for women and feminists to come together and discuss empowerment, actions, events, and other content related to feminism within Virginia. We want our page to be as welcoming to as many people as possible.
