Tax March Seattle continues the fight for a fair, equitable tax system. Our current campaign is #NotOnePenny. Oh, and Trump’s tax returns. NotOnePenny.org Tax March Seattle is a non-partisan community of citizens who value transparency in government, a fair and equitable tax system, and a reasonable federal budget derived through bi-partisan, regular order. Our current campaign is #NotOnePenny (NotOnePenny.org), a coalition of more than 40 organizations fighting the Trump tax cuts, a blatant giveaway to billionaires and corporations at the cost middle class taxpayers and of our safety net. It’s yet another attack on healthcare, and includes $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid, $473 billion in cuts to Medicare, cuts of everything from Meals on Wheels to block grants, to disaster readiness and recovery. All to give $2.6 trillion in tax cuts to wealthy corporations, millionaires and billionaires. And it increases our federal deficit by at least $2.4 trillion over 10 years. That is insane! No reasonable member of Congress, regardless of party, should support this backwards budget. We must fight to keep it from passing, and hold our members of Congress accountable for each and every vote. The original problem: • Throughout the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump told the American people he would release his tax returns and come clean about his business dealings. Despite intense public pressure, Donald Trump has not yet done so. In refusing to release these tax returns, he is able to hide his business dealings, financial ties, and conflicts of interest. The original solution: • President Trump: release your tax returns. Since the 1970s, every President has released their tax returns. Donald Trump’s refusal to release his tax returns is not normal and is an affront to our democracy. • We marched on Seattle to remind Donald Trump that he works for us. • Accountability starts with transparency. We demand Donald Trump release his tax returns and reveal his business dealings, financial ties, and any potential conflicts of interests. Tax March Seattle, the event, was on April 15th, 10am at the Federal Building. A non-partisan group working for a meaningful tax code and transparency in government.
