Stand Up To Oil
Stand Up to Oil is a growing coalition of groups opposed to new oil terminals and an increase in oil transport through the Northwest. Rapid and dramatic changes to oil transportation are creating serious threats to Northwest communities, economies, and waterways. Oil companies stand to make huge profits while Northwest communities bear the potential risks and costs of explosive oil train derailments, a huge increase in rail traffic, and oil spills from trains, tankers, and barges into our rivers, streams, and coastlines. Proposals from oil terminals are moving forward but there is still an opportunity to make your voice heard and join us to stand up to Big Oil. Stand Up to Oil is a growing coalition of groups opposed to new oil terminals and an increase in oil transport through the Northwest, while working to improve safety measures for oil currently traveling through the region. Core members include: Climate Solutions, Columbia Riverkeeper, Earthjustice, Forest Ethics, Friends of the Columbia Gorge, Friends of the San Juans, The Lands Council, Sierra Club, Washington Environmental Council, and Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility.
