Stand Up for Students
The idea behind Stand Up for Students grew when a group of Maine educators, parents, students, business owners and retirees came together to find a new, more equitable way to support the success of every public school student.Supporters of Stand Up for Students understand that our kids have only one shot at a quality education that will prepare them for success in the future, and we need to make sure they get it. A quality education should not depend on a child's zip code.In 2016, voters approved our ballot initiative proposal, Question 2, to finally fully fund the state obligation for education funding by asking the top 2% of income earners to pay 3% surcharge on income earned over $200,000. We parents, teachers, students & Maine citizens dedicated to adequately fund ME’s public schools.
