This is the DC-hosted chapter of the National Organization Solidarity Sundays. More info on the national group is at https://www.solidaritysundays.org/. We host call-to-action meetings the second Sunday of every month, using the themes and causes selected by the National SolSun group. This is a great way to get together with some people, have a few snacks, and do some weekend activism. FAQs: Is this event wheelchair accessible? We switch between locations every month; one location is a house that is not wheelchair accessible; the other location is an apartment building with flat floors and ramps and accessible bathrooms (we meet on the 1st floor, but there is also an elevator). If you have particular needs and would like to attend, please reach out and we can host in the apartment building! Should I bring snacks and/or drinks? Yes! We have coffee and tea available and a few snacks. Can I bring my kids? We would be happy to have kids come and participate, but we'd appreciate if you gave us a heads up that you were bringing them. That way we can have a specific activity or space for them to be in. We don't have a dedicated child care person at these events, but we would all pitch in as much as possible. What do you guys do? We are part of the national Solidarity Sundays (solidaritysundays.org) organization, whose mission is to fight patriarchy and white supremacy. In the Trump era, we are focused on writing letters, sending post cards, making calls, tweeting, etc to make sure the progressive agenda doesn't die under his presidency, and to stand up for what we believe in. We also want to foster a community of likeminded people to do this with regularly, because that is good for the soul. (That made us sound like a cult...but we're not!) Are people of color welcome? Absolutely yes, in figurative all caps, definitely yes, cannot emphasize that enough. Are men welcome? Men that are committed to feminism are absolutely welcome! We want to include everybody except bigots and nazis!
