SEAMEC is an independent non-partisan candidate rating organization that interviews, evaluates, and rates candidates running for political office in Seattle, King and Snohomish Counties and the state of Washington.SEAMEC rates candidates on their attitudes, knowledge, stance, record of proven activism, and past, present and potential commitment to issues specifically concerning the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered communities. Candidate interviews are conducted by panels of volunteers.The numerical SEAMEC Rating uses the following scale: 5-Demonstrates Leadership: Vocal and active supporter of LGBT rights4-Exceeds Expectations: Votes for and is verbally supportive of LGBT3-Meets Expectations: Passively sympathetic of LGBT2-Needs Improvement: Indifferent, inconsistent or under informed of LGBT issues1-Resistant: Usually against LGBT rights
