Originally a series of protests in response to decisions made in North Carolina about voting, taxes, repealing the Racial Justice Act, abortion limitations, and etc. Became a grassroots social movement active in several other states: New Mexico, Illinois, Georgia, South Carolina. More of a movement than an organization. Current focus: lead by William J. Barber II, attempting to spread N.C.'s model of protest and resistance to other states
