The ACLU of Louisiana, an autonomous Louisiana non-profit corporation, exists to secure and maintain the fundamental rights guaranteed to state residents by the U. S. Constitution and by the Louisiana Constitution, when it may offer greater protection of individual freedom. It operates as a state chartered Affiliate of the National ACLU and works to promote the principles of and within the policies of the national organization.
