POSTING GUIDELINES! When posting here, adhere to these guidelines, and help us monitor and report posts/threads that go astray. It's a delicate balance, allowing people to speak their minds and working to turn that energy into constructive action. We do the best we can. Indivisible North Coast Oregon (INCO) defends democracy by opposing authoritarianism, bigotry, and corruption. Subscribe to our newsletter by signing up at http://indivisiblenorthcoastor.blogspot.com/. Indivisible values include respect and inclusiveness. That means respect for people of all faiths, creeds, national origins, etc. It also means showing respect to others in this group by engaging in thoughtful discourse without mocking, attacking, or name-calling. Post and/or comment threads that fail to meet this basic expectation will be removed, as will posts/comments that are irrelevant to our mission and purpose. Repeat offenses may result in the member being removed. 'Groupthink' is not our goal, but in a closed group, members should feel safe from trolling and comments intended only to provoke. If your goal is to undermine INCO's efforts, you're in the wrong group. When sharing links, stick with reliable journalism - reputable magazines, newspapers, and websites known for actual reporting. If you come across something that seems suspicious - ie reported only on a website, sensationalist in content - refrain from sharing. If it's a real story, a reliable source will pick it up. If it's fake, it needs to die a swift death. No posts promoting products or services. Candidates for local office may post once about their candidacy with a link, if desired, to a page that states their policy positions, and they may ask us to post meet-and-greet or informational events. Other posts and/or comments by candidates should be as individuals, not identifying them as candidates. Members, candidates, and their staff should refrain from electioneering within this group (see exception below). Electioneering includes statements that advocate for a particular candidate, such as 'JD is the best because...' or 'I'm voting for candidate XYZ because,' etc. We DO allow electioneering for candidates/measures endorsed by INCO, and for candidates/measures we're actively campaigning for/against, but we reserve the right to cull posts as needed if the feed becomes lopsided. You can find INCO endorsements here: http://www.indivisiblenorthcoastoregon.org/p/endorsements.html. INCO does not endorse candidates/measures at the city/county level. Candidates for state and federal office endorsed by INCO and/or Indivisible National, and their staff, may also post events of regional interest in our Events section, or they may ask us to post. These events should be tagged 'not sponsored by INCO.'
