This is a group to come together as a greater community and support a number of causes. The purpose is to connect people interested in both organizing, and joining actions. To support the community in important causes. If anybody slips through with the intention of trolling, please let a mod know, and we will handle it. In an effort to keep a measure of coherence, the following rules do apply: 1. Please keep events and actions LOCAL. That means greater Grand Rapids area, or within a 30 minute drive. If you have something that is further away, ask a mod if you can post it first, and we'll make sure that it fits with the mission. 2. No infighting. We want to strengthen our community, and as such we will not stand people playing devils advocate, or arguing just for the sake of it. If you don't agree with something, don't attend. 3. Encourage marginalized voices. If BLM is putting on an event, encourage people to attend theirs, and listen. Don't start your own to get more people to go. This also goes for reactions that directly affect marginalized groups. Encourage them to spearhead actions, and serve as support. Posts that SHOULDN'T be in here: Posts that shouldn't be in here include (not that these posts are necessarily without merit, just that there are MANY other local facebook groups for them): 1. Posts endorsing/about a campaign for office (with exceptions subject to admin approval if mentioning a candidate is directly relevant to local movement work) 2. Posts encouraging participation in organizations/parties that primarily engage in electoral work Posts that are allowed within reason: 1. Contacting/pressuring officials around policy 2. Posts examining the limitations of electoral organizing.
