This page is for information pertaining to the Ephrata (PA) Area Democratic Committee and the Guy Bard Democratic Club of Northern Lancaster County. The Ephrata Area Democratic Committee (also know as, The Guy Bard Club) is a group of active people who are dedicated to spreading the Democratic message of hope in the Ephrata area. Together with the Cocalico Dems and the Garden Spot Dems, we comprise the Northeastern Alliance of Democrats covering the Adamstown, Denver, Ephrata, New Holland – the northeastern part of Lancaster County. We believe in progressive government that is in tune with the real needs of the American people – health care for all, good education for our children, safe and healthy communities, and good jobs that pay a living wage. We want to make our county one that comes together to promote our rich heritage and our wonderful diversity. We will work within our communities toward peace, justice and opportunity for all, and the spirit of pulling together for the common good. The Democratic Party's goal is to ensure the most good, for the most people, most of the time. Democrats are common people, c oming together on common ground, using common sense, for the common good. We believe every American has the potential to accomplish great things; the Democratic Party upholds our founding fathers' commitment to opportunity for everyone regardless of background, circumstances, or beliefs. Democrats advocate a free-enterprise economic system supported by selective government intervention to remedy the excesses and shortcomings of capitalism and to protect those least able to help themselves in an increasingly complex society. The ideas and visions of the Democratic Party have moved this nation forward. Social Security, Civil Rights, clean air and water laws, and collective bargaining are examples of Democratic policies that have improved the quality of life for all Americans. We believe we must act as a community through neighborhood and faith-based organizations and through our governmental entities to address the problems of today and to plan for the problems and opportunities of tomorrow. We believe in the affirmative use of government to regulate the private enterprise economy, promote social and economic justice, protect freedom and opportunity, and conserve our natural and community resources. The Lancaster County Democratic Party has a simple vision for the future: We want a Lancaster County that gives all residents a chance to live out their dreams and achieve their potential. We want a county that is coming together around our enduring values, our rich heritage and our changing diversity-rather than drifting apart due to intolerance and selfishness. Today's Democratic Party is determined to renew America's most basic promise: Opportunity for every American and responsibility from every American while reawakening our great sense of community. These values made our county and nation strong. These same values must guide us into the future. This document, which can be updated and amended, presents the Lancaster County Democratic Party's vision of Opportunity, Responsibility, and Community.
