Peace Action of New York State is the New York affiliate of Peace Action, the largest grassroots peace organization in the country. Peace Action New York State (PANYS) is the New York affiliate of Peace Action, the largest grassroots peace organization in the country. PANYS is a membership organization that uses lobbying and direct political action to compliment the work of the Peace Action Fund of New York State, our charitable organization. The issues PANYS works on include: the abolition of nuclear weapons; ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; ending the culture of militarism in the U.S., including ending the military's recruitment of public school kids; changing federal spending priorities away from the military and toward our communities and human needs; and the promotion of diplomacy to solve proliferation concerns with Iran. PANYS has over 3,000 members in sixteen chapters throughout the state, and work in 28 out of the 29 New York Congressional districts. As a grassroots organization, our local chapters take a large lead in determining our agenda. We're working on getting more students involved in PANYS and we would like to have local student organizations participate in our events.
