Athens for Everyone works towards social & economic justice in Athens, GA through empowerment, education, direct action, lobbying, & candidate development. We plan to address the disgraceful poverty and economic disparity in Athens. We will work to expand public transit and pedestrian and bicycle accessibility throughout the county. We have an affordable plan to make bus service free for all residents, not just UGA students. We support a downtown master plan that strengthens our zoning laws, welcomes public input, and protects the integrity and character of our unique town. We will fight to rid Athens of unnecessary and harmful laws while making City Hall more inviting and transparent. A strong economy starts from the ground up and we will support local business and the creation of high-quality living-wage jobs. We will leverage Athens’ highly-educated workforce to attract sustainable 21st century jobs and expand our economy and the opportunities for all of our residents. We will work with our Mayor and County Commission to encourage local agriculture and the thriving food culture of Athens. We will take every step to make Athens-Clarke County safe and welcoming to every resident, no matter their race, creed, immigration status, gender, or orientation. Our town has a rich and unique culture built on education, entrepreneurship, and a thriving arts community. We must embrace this culture so that, together, we will make Athens a more equal, prosperous, and beautiful place to live.
