350 Salem Oregon evolved from a loose network of activists who have participated in 350.org and other climate change related events here in Salem, Oregon. Protecting the stability of our climate and adapting to climate change impacts we can no longer avoid are two of the most urgent tasks facing us today. Here in the Pacific Northwest we are at the front lines of a massive expansion of fossil fuel capacity in North America. Even though the Pacific Northwest is known for innovative environmental policy and renewable energy development, fossil fuel companies see our beautiful region as nothing but an express route for coal, oil and natural gas from the interior to West Coast ports and refineries. We are involved with the struggle to stop fossil fuels from traveling on our roads, rails, and waterways. We are in solidarity with the national and international goals of 350.org and are very pleased to be affiliated with the 350.org global network.
