The Maryland ACLU works to ensure that all people in the state of Maryland are free to think and speak as they choose and can lead their lives free from discrimination and unwarranted government intrusion. We are guided in our work by the United States Bill of Rights and the Maryland Declaration of Rights. The Maryland ACLU acts without partisanship to achieve these goals.
The Association on American Indian Affairs is the oldest non-profit serving Indian Country protecting sovereignty, preserving culture and educating youth. The Association was formed in 1922 to change the destructive path of federal policy from assimilation, termination and allotment, to sovereignty, self-determination and self-sufficiency. Throughout its 96-year history, the Association has provided national advocacy on watershed issues that support sovereignty and culture, while working on the ground at a grassroots level with Tribes to support the implementation of programs that affect lives on the ground.
Our group’s purpose is to follow and present news stories on the most pressing issues of the day, and to highlight news stories that are getting under-reported or ignored. We aim to do this in a minimally biased way. We know a lot of people are getting news from social media and we aim to help people easily find fact-based, credible news and quality news sources.
We currently have 4 group administrators. Each of our administrators will post about stories that they find interesting or that they feel passionately about. We can’t possibly cover every issue or every story, but we do aim to help our members learn about important issues. Members are welcome to post news stories, following our criteria. Learn more about our criteria here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/educateandact/permalink/555138188179140/ .
