Practicing Sanctuary - A Guide to Radical Welcome & Collective Care

We live in extraordinary times. In towns and cities across the country, there is an urgency to defend and protect our communities from systemic injustice. A growing number of local governments are responding, thanks to ongoing advocacy from constituents and organizations, by adopting sanctuary policies. These policies attempt to limit the impact of the current Administration’s harmful initiatives that target vulnerable people.

We believe that it’s time not just for a policy of sanctuary, but a Practice of Sanctuary that is rooted in love and justice and embodied in active allyship. We’re here to learn how to boldly intervene in this moment, and to reconnect with each other, our communities, and the world. Our society cannot be truly well until everyone is able to fully participate and thrive, and that’s only possible if we commit, in solidarity, to actively cultivating those conditions. We have to start by dismantling beliefs and systems that hold us back, and build a new, more holistic understanding of our interconnectedness -- transforming society from the inside out.
