Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest democratic socialist organization in the US. This page is run by and represents the Southern New Hampshire chapter. The New Hampshire chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (NH DSA) is a multi-issue activist group working locally to expand the possibilities of democracy in New Hampshire and push for shared ownership of power and resources. We are socialists because we reject an economic order based on private profit, alienated labor, gross inequalities of wealth and power, discrimination based on race and sex, and brutality and violence in defense of the status quo. We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane social order based on popular control of resources and production, economic planning, equitable distribution, feminism, racial equality and non-oppressive relationships. We are socialists because we are developing a concrete strategy for achieving that vision, for building a majority movement that will make democratic socialism a reality in America. We believe that such a strategy must acknowledge the class structure of American society and its basic conflict of interest between those sectors with enormous economic power and the vast majority of the population. Socialism is not a scary word. It is a viable alternative to a capitalist system that benefits few and burdens many. We work in our own communities to transform New Hampshire’s conception of socialism and the possibilities of our state through organized efforts in three parts: policy, education, and service. Through a multilateral, broad-based approach we seek to collaborate with all types of activists and achieve material gains for vulnerable communities here at home. Members come from every reach of the granite state and cross demographic lines. Our differences in experience fuel our ability to achieve our shared vision - a radical expansion of democracy in all spheres of life. Join us in building a New Hampshire that works for all! The Democratic Socialists of America is the largest socialist organization in the United States, and the principal U.S. affiliate of the Socialist International. DSA's members are building progressive movements for social change while establishing an openly democratic socialist presence in American communities and politics. DSA is a dues-paying nonprofit, not a political party. Regular dues vary and can be as low as $1 per month or an amount that you choose. For more info, see https://www.patreon.com/snhdsa DSA is democratic. There is no party line and there are no required readings. Locals, like the Southern New Hampshire chapter, are independent of the national organization. DSA's primary political leadership is the National Political Committee (NPC), a sixteen-person body which functions as the board of directors of DSA and is elected every two years by the delegates to DSA's National Convention. Every DSA chapter is entitled to send a certain number of delegates to the National Convention, based upon the chapter's size. There are also 'at-large' delegates to represent areas where there are no active chapters. To work democratically and cooperatively in New Hampshire to advocate for the liberation of all people through the transformation of capitalism into socialism and the abolition of racism, sexism, and ableism. Think globally, act locally.
