Vision LGBTQ Resistance Nevada stands united for social justice. Mission LGBTQ Resistance Nevada is a group of, experienced activists, long-time grass-roots organizers, and artists who believe in the connection between social reform and artistic practice. The primary goal of the group is to confront sexism, racism, xenophobia, transphobia, homophobia, antipathy towards the poor, and climate-change denial. LGBTQ Resistance Nevada will utilize all forms of advocacy and protest, including the Internet, print, and social-media platforms to promote human dignity as the ethical foundation of a just society. As LGBTQ people, we believe what’s been achieved—mostly through hard-fought activism—can be taken away. Therefore, we are especially vigilant when administrations change whether federal, state, or city. We are particularly apprehensive when articulated goals and ideologies threaten discrimination against us and the nullification of our legal rights. Since the Stonewall Rebellion, LGBTQ people have secured certain rights through determined, unceasing activism, but our vulnerability persists without absolute legal protections. We continue to suffer from multiple acts of violence; from terrorism and hate-crime murders; bashing, bullying, and shunning; inadequate, heteronormative health and mental healthcare services; inaccessibility to affordable reproductive healthcare, including abortion; discriminatory employment practices and loss of livelihood; and lack of affordable and safe housing. As LGBTQ people, we believe in the inviolable equal protections guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution for all citizens and noncitizens regardless of gender identity; sexual orientation; race; ethnicity; economic status; or secular, religious, and spiritual belief systems.
