We believe that extraordinary arts and leadership are key to building vibrant communities. The Bonfils-Stanton Foundation is a Private Nonprofit Foundation based in Denver Colorado that has an overarching vision of supporting arts and leadership as keys to building a vibrant community. The core work of the Foundation manifests itself in providing grant support to arts organizations in metro Denver that demonstrate artistic excellence, visionary leadership, financial stability and adaptive capacity. The Foundation has a particular interest in arts organizations, arts leaders, and arts collaborations making innovative and adaptive responses to changes in demographics, patterns of cultural engagement, and new market realities. Our goals are to: *Enrich Denver’s cultural life and landscape *Connect art and community in new and surprising ways *Engage citizens as creators, participants and critics of the arts *Elevate the profile of Denver’s art scene both locally and nationally In addition to supporting the Arts and Cultural community, the Foundation has a commitment to leadership which is embodied through the annual Bonfils-Stanton Awards and the Livingston Fellowship Program. The Bonfils-Stanton Awards celebrate three individual Coloradans each year who have made a unique and significant contributions in the fields of Arts and Humanities, Community Service and Science and Medicine. Honorees are selected by the Board of Trustees upon recommendation by panels of community leaders. The honorees are recognized at an annual luncheon and each receives a financial award of $35,000. The Livingston Fellowship Program provides advanced learning and professional development opportunities to promising nonprofit leaders who hold or aspire to hold a significant leadership role in Colorado’s nonprofit sector. Each year, five fellows are selected through a nomination process, vetted by a panel of community leaders, and interviewed by an independent consultant. Each Fellow receives an award of up to $25,000 to enhance their leadership skills as well as the support of an independent executive coach. Charles Ed Stanton established the Foundation in 1962 following the death of his wife, May Bonfils Stanton. May was the daughter of Belle and Frederick Bonfils, publisher and co-founder of The Denver Post. Ed's deep Colorado roots, commitment to excellence, love of beauty, and desire to celebrate others continues to inspire the work of the Foundation.
